Discussion guide and explainer video are now available

Background materials will set the stage for citizen conversations

To enable an informed discussion among the group of 150 diverse Canadians who will be taking part in our regional dialogues, we have created a bilingual discussion guide. The discussion guide has been reviewed by a multi-sector group of experts, including from academia, civil society, and industry. Accompanying the guide is an explainer video that communicates key highlights in an animated format.

The purpose of these materials is to inform participants and to ensure citizen input reflects real world constraints faced by energy decision-makers.

The discussion guide and explainer video offer evidence-based information about Canada’s energy system and highlight a full range of ideas and perspectives on the topic. Importantly, these materials outline a diverse range of approaches to Canada’s energy future, which have been suggested by different Canadians and are presented without censorship.

As a result, most readers, regardless of perspective, will find things in this document that they agree with and others that they don’t agree with. This will support the type of open-minded conversation that is critical to our democracy.

Citizen participants will have received the guide and explainer video prior to joining their respective two-day regional dialogue.

Download the discussion guide (PDF) and watch the explainer video on YouTube.
